Hassan Celtic Deal Agreed as Signing Moves to Brink

Haissem Hassan Celtic transfer talks appear to have finally produced the breakthrough supporters have been waiting for.

Fresh reports from Spain claim Celtic and Real Oviedo have now reached an agreement worth €6 million, around £5.2 million, for the Egyptian international.

An announcement is reportedly expected very soon.

After weeks of negotiations, this one now appears to be right on the brink.

Hassan Celtic deal reportedly agreed

Spanish newspaper El Periódico Mediterráneo reports that Celtic and Oviedo have settled on the €6 million fee.

That represents an impressive reduction from Hassan’s €12 million release clause.

Oviedo had reportedly hoped to collect more than €10 million earlier in the window. However, Hassan has entered the final year of his contract.

That appears to have strengthened Celtic’s negotiating position.

Villarreal also have a major financial interest in the transfer. The Spanish club retained 40 per cent of Hassan’s rights when he joined Oviedo.

The latest report calculates Villarreal would receive €2.4 million from a €6 million transfer.

Previous Sky Sports reporting had Celtic’s proposal at around £6 million initially, potentially rising towards £9 million through bonuses.

Now, crucially, reports from Spain say an agreement has been reached.

Oviedo boss comments point towards Celtic exit

Real Oviedo manager Julián Calero has also spoken openly about Hassan’s situation.

Calero said the club must consider “the club’s finances, the player’s wishes, and offers from other clubs.”

He then provided another telling admission.

“We have a salary cap and we were aware that departures were necessary,” Calero said.

Hassan was also left out of Oviedo’s recent squad against Le Havre despite not being injured.

Put everything together and the direction of travel looks increasingly clear.

Celtic attack could be transformed

Hassan would add another fascinating option to Martin O’Neill’s forward line.

The 24-year-old is direct, quick and comfortable running at defenders.

He could now join an attack already featuring Kasper Høgh and Camilo Durán.

Then there is Jota.

The Portuguese winger is back in training as he continues his recovery.

Høgh, Durán, Hassan and eventually Jota would give Celtic power, pace, width and creativity.

More signings are still required. Celtic cannot allow Hassan’s arrival to end the recruitment drive.

However, this would represent genuine progress.

After seemingly endless negotiations, reports now say Celtic finally have their agreement.

All eyes are now on the official announcement.
